 The Plan

The Musician’s family will be expected to purchase the recommended music books when needed. Young Musicians (ages 4-6) will be encouraged to take group lessons with other young musicians. There are many benefits to learning among peers when very young and first starting out. All musicians that have had around 2 years of lessons will need to move into 1 hour lessons because of the amount of material they will need to learn. After that, they may need to move into 75 minute lessons.

 Lesson Etiquette

Please do not be late to lessons, because lessons will always end on time. Musicians are expected to  arrive 1-2 minutes early (no more) to take off shoes and jacket and wash hands. Being quiet is appreciated during another musicians lesson time and respecting the teacher’s home is required.

Please do not be late picking up your musician.

If a musician is sick they are not permitted to have an in-person lesson, but may do their lesson online.

 Rescheduling

Rescheduling a lesson should be possible on the following designated makeup day outlined on the calendar, with a limit of 3 rescheduled lessons per school year. Letting the teacher know by at least 1pm on the day of the lesson or before is necessary for proper preparations of a rescheduled lesson. If the teacher cancels then it will be rescheduled and not counted as one of the possible 3 rescheduled lessons.

 Performances

Musicians will have the opportunity to perform in 2-4 Formal or Online Recitals each school year, possibly in the fall, at Christmas time, in the spring, and at the end of the school year. Piano Parties may also happen during the school year, which are opportunities to get together to perform, enjoy activities and snacks.

 Practice Expectations

Practicing is essential to progress. Not only will musicians be expected to play daily on the piano each week between lessons, but also to listen to music tracks assigned. There is a very big difference in progress when musicians listen to the music tracks assigned compared with those that do not. If musicians are young and not interested in playing, do not push them, but encourage more listening.

 Summer

Musicians are required to take at least 5 lessons between June 1 - August 30, 2024 if they would like to reserve a spot for the following school year. Spreading lessons out is superior to scheduling lessons close together followed by a long break. Musicians tend to forget and regress during a long break.

Tuition will be calculated for the number of lessons taken during the summer season of 2024.
